If you have Windows Vista and the Creative xfi sound card with the latest drivers, you may experience long delays during logging off.
Just recently, my PC has been experiencing shutdown problems where the log off process has been delayed by anything up to 5 minutes. The same problem occurs during restart and log off.
It turns out that the latest creative xfi drivers appear to causing the problem which would make sense as I updated the creative drivers recently to get Wolfenstein working and the problem only started around about then.
The problem is with the creative help feature, ctxfihlp.exe which is a non essential program. Simply disabling from the startup in msconfig will resolve this issue.
Click on Start then Run. Type msconfig in space provided and press Enter. Select 'Startup' tab and look for ctxfihlp in list. Untick entry, click apply then ok. A restart is necessary.
