Result!! Tonight I completed Broken Steel and levelled up to 30 just before the final section of the game. The Adam’s Air force base is pretty decent size map with loads of hostiles. Unfortunately, I cleared out the base before realising the first part of my objective was just outside the Presidential metro link. Dooh.. The game ends with a massive missile launch on the Enclave and your rescue chopper lands down conveniently for the best seat in the house. Great ending.
Surprisingly, the game ends completely open ended. Something I wasn’t expecting. The Brotherhood say how marvellous I am and then just leave me standing on my tod.. “hey guys, fancy a quick pint to celebrate?” – “Guys?” Nope, not even a sniff of Dom Pérignon. So I’m left now to explore what’s left which isn’t much now. It’s like I’m a free man. Good job really, I have shit loads of ammo and caps to spend. As tempting as it might be, with no more objectives or side quests, and a queue of other games to play, I think that’s it for Fallout 3 for awhile. I’ve had about enough now. I may consider Point Lookout later in the year, we’ll see.
