Hello, and welcome you to Huddysworld, my personal website and if you've not guessed already my name is Huddy. I’m a self confessed PC enthusiast, public liability and outright geek.
I was born sometime around the late sixties, when England were world cup champions, Spurs where the FA cup holders and Mighty Quinn were number one. Google that and you should get some idea of the year.
My geeky’ness started really when i was about 13. A keen CB radio owner who made a habit of obliterating the neighbours unsuppressed TVs (there were only 3 channels then). The interest progressed somehow to computers and my parents bought me my first computer, the classic Commodore64 for one of my birthdays. Not happy with just playing games I decided to learn programming and wrote a few simple games for myself. Regrettably, I never took the opportunity to continue along the line of games programming, opting for more business application programming when leaving college but the C64 launched my career prospects and interest in computers forever.
After spending a year or so at the Harlow ITec, I was very lucky to be selected for a recruitment campaign for a company willing to provide full IBM-RPG programming training, as skills in this field were quite short at that time. Since 1986, I’ve been mainly working as a analyst/programmer on the IBM midrange system namely the iSeries (formerly the AS/400). I started in the manufacturing industry in and around Herts and Essex but then progressed into specialising in banking system around the mid 90s and I've worked in the City ever since.
Married with three children, my interest in PCs was rejuvenated when by brother-in-law showed me the latest 3d games back in 2000. I was amazed how things had advanced in just a short space of time and my addictive nature got the better of me. I was hooked and I've been gaming, building and fixing PCs in my spare time ever since.
Over the years I've collected a wealth knowledge and experience so thought it was time to obtain some industry recognised qualification with certificates which I can hang on he fridge door so I managed CompTia A+ and Network+ during 2007. With jobs being so uncertain in the City, I have used this to establish a small part time PC repair business which I run from a workshop. Something of a backup should I need it.
